Third tool: ICT as a constructive tool

From the April first and second weeks we discussed on very interesting topic that is the role of ICT in fostering the constructive approach of learning. I am quite familiar with the word “constructive” from the first year till the final year as we learn a lot of constructivist theory but I never learned constructive in ICT. Through this session, I learned and experienced a lot about the role of ICT in fostering a constructive approach to learning.

What I learned from my tutor presentation  

To reflect on what I understood through sir presentation “ICT as constructive Tool”: Through my tutor presentation, I learned a constructive tool is a general-purpose tool that can be used to manipulate information, construct their knowledge or visualize student's understanding. Construction tools such as Microsoft Word or PowerPoint, simulation, the electronic bulletin board has a strong impact in the educational environment and is widely used in most organizations. PowerPoint is a presentation graphics program packaged as part of Microsoft Office for Windows. In this session, we focused more on PowerPoint presentations to create simulation as it is very advantageous in the context of increased creativity among students.I learned that as being a teacher we should allow the students to explore and construct their understanding of the topic. So, in this way, students will actively be engaged in the activity to make meaning and knowledge.

What I learned from designing simulation activity

In this session, I enjoyed the class activity given by my tutor that is to design a page simulated advertisement to attract visitors using PowerPoint presentation programs. 

Since so far I neither design simulation nor hear the term simulation before. I took a lot of time to explore the topic “simulation” and after that how to design the simulation in PowerPoint presentation. I was actively engaged to explore the topic and finally, I came up with an interesting simulation to attract my village. 

After doing the activity I realized that ICT as constructive Tool which holds people actively to construct or make their knowledge. 

From the activity I got skills to teach on a particular topic in an interesting way in the form of simulation. For instance, if I am going to teach about the village to the students. We can design the simulation of the village and teach about the village. I know all the students will enjoy learning through simulation rather than teaching using a green board and textbook.
                                                                                                                                                    

In the future, I will use simulation to teach any new concepts to the students. I know every student will face difficulty to understand the new concept unless teaching through interesting strategies. For instance, to teach about the water cycle I will download the simulation on the water cycle. From the simulation, all the children will easily understand the concept of a difficult topic.Hence I will use simulation to teach any new concept to the students. Below simulation I will use to teach concept of water cycle to students.
